In September 2000, Aseana Percussion Unit, in cooperation with the Spastic Children’s Association of Selangor piloted a Rhythm Interactive programme for a group of disabled children called the Rhythm Interactive Special Enablers (RISE).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The programme revolves around the idea of having fun in the making of music using percussive instruments such as the congas, shakers, bells, hand drums etc<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The programme is held on a weekly basis with each session lasting about 60 minutes. Within a period of a month, incredible results were achieved. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Due to the the positive response from pupils, teachers and parents, extra classes were added on for the programme in January 2001. Currently about 60% of the CP children in the school are involved in the programme. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The objectives of RISE stated below, can be applied to who are challenged physically or mentally, autistic, Down syndrome and senior citizens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Create an alternative method for muscular exercise<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Assist in physical movement and coordination<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Develop a sense of musical appreciation<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Initiate a team working environment<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Improve self-esteem and confidence<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Instill a sense of discipline<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Enhance creative abilities<\/p>\n\n\n\n
